About the Anthurium & Orchid Soil Mix:
This mix has been specially developed to cater to the large epiphytic roots of Anthurium and Orchids. A high content of Bark makes up a large percent of the mixture which creates massive air chambers for roots to crawl through, as well as attaching and breaking down the Bark itself. Low percentages of humus-like components (Coco Coir for example) means this mix will always stay loose and light even when occasionally overwatered. This mix is certainly not just for Anthurium and Orchids, in fact Bromeliad or even a large epiphytic Hoya is suited fantastically to this mix also!
What Anthurium and Orchid want from their soil:
The most important factor for these plants is air. Many species of Anthurium and Orchids are found rooted into trees in the wild, so their roots are used to lots of air and not a lot of actual soil like material. However, we have added just enough of humus -like material to also cater for the Anthurium that are known to grow on land.
As with all of our Premium mixes a population of positive bacteria, mycelium and microfauna is present in the substrate to create the potted ecosystem which keeps your plant healthy! Enough nutrients for the first 2 months of growth is also in every bag along with our specialist nutrient storage component, Zeolite.

How much Anthurium & Orchid Mix do you need?

My anthurium was in soil with stones and pebbles at bottom of pot. I bought it on gumtree with a few other plants unaware this was the case. The soil was staying wet for weeks so I decided to order Soil Ninja Anthurim mix alongside a clear plastic pot. After removing some root rot luckily caught it early, I repotted in this mix. That was on 30 April, moistened the soil and then watered May 3rd. Already it has put out a new slightly bigger leaf than the previous few, I am so pleased how well it’s doing. Hoping for some flowering over next few months, also washed the roots with hydrogen peroxide and watered with root boost ultra. I will definitely use Soil Ninjain future and would recommend to anyone. Thank you 🤩
I absolutely love Soil Ninja’s Premium Anthutium and Orchid Blend! I’ve been using it for my Hoyas and Eschynanthus, and I’m really impressed with the results. The mix is light, airy and chunky, with excellent drainage while still providing a great environment for the roots. Both my Hoyas and Eschynanthus seem to be thriving in it! The quality is fantastic and I’ll definitely be using this blend again. Highly recommended! 🌿💚

Repotted my Hoya australis Lisa into this mix, and it's throwing out double-sized leaves with exactly the same watering/feeding regime since its move, very happy.
